Chennai Express – Movie Review

Chennai Express is a Mindless Action Comedy Romantic film directed by Rohit Shetty… Chennai Express features Shah Rukh Khan & Deepika Padukone who has been paired for 2nd time in lead roles after Om Shanthi Om in 2007.. Its SRK’s first collaboration with Rohit Shetty..

Asusual SRK is at his best in Romance but he still is a bit weak in Comedy & his action sequences was quite unconvincing.. Felt like Shahrukh has over acted a bit, and that makes the movie loose some charm..

After Cocktail and Yeh Jaawani Hai Deeewani, Deepika Padukone once again gives an awesome performance & her accent in the movie is so funny which will crack you up time to time… She truly delivers some genuine laughs, especially during one a scene in which she sleep-talks as if she were possessed..

Songs were disturbing a lot in the movie (especially in the 2nd half) because it was not connecting to the storyline.. except 1234 & Titli none of the songs are good..

Rohit Shetty’s typical humour and creative action sequences, keeps you enthralled and involved in most part of the movie.. He has made action sequences more realistic & made the hero look more Human.. Rohit has captured some new locations of South India presented it beautifully..

Script:

Chennai Express is the story of 40 year old unmarried Rahul’s journey from Mumbai to Rameshwaram.. Because he has been trusted by his grandmother for the task of taking the ashes of his grandfather to Rameshwaram.. Rahul decides to go and in the journey meets the runaway Meena Amma who has eloped from an unwanted wedding formalized by her don father…  Now begins a saga of journey which altogether takes a different route..

The is plot is adventurous, but the humor is even greater with lots of dramatic turns in the second half.. Though some scenes are likely to make you think “Why?”… Of course, it being a Rohit Shetty film, you can expect some illogical humor that still manages to crack you up in laughter. Rohit’s movies till date have never been about story or character. He make movies only to entertain you by whatever means necessary & that what he does with Chennai Express..

Conclusion:

If you’re a SRK or DP fan, then you’re in for a treat! And the others, trust me, you will not be bored! :) Overall it’s not a wow film but really a truly entertaining film, a journey, a romance, and a lot of elements of SRK, DP & Rohit Shetty. What more do you want… Do go and watch the film. Its worth watching…!!
